Co-opted Governor

I was elected parent governor in January 2015. I am a mother of 2 boys. Hailing from a family of teachers, I was always passionate about teaching and children’s academic progress. I understand what it takes for children to do well and be successful. I take pride in helping children with their education. I have been actively involved in tutoring and mentoring – helping children whose home language is not English and guiding children into further education. I have also been a very ‘hands on’ parent, being involved in understanding what my children do at school, whether academic or non-academic. I have attended many school trips, class assemblies, school run and PTA events at the school.  I am a Tamil, having moved to Newham as a teenager. I read Engineering at Imperial College and have a career in the financial sector in programme and project management. I feel I can also bring this breadth of knowledge to my role as parent governor.

Co-opted Governor

I became a community governor in 2013 having been schooled in the borough throughout my primary and secondary education. I have practised as a family law barrister for the last 15 years, with a particular emphasis on children cases, and am able to use my experience in my link role for safeguarding at the school.  I became a governor in order to “put something back” into the community that I have grown up in. It is a privilege to be part of the school’s development and I thoroughly enjoy it.
