Meet the Chair of Governors

Mr P Jolly(2)

Mr P Jolly

" I have lived within 500 metres of  Redbridge school all my life. I attended the school as a primary pupil in the late 1940s going on to Bancrofts school at age 11. I went on to obtain an honours degree in mathematics at Exeter University and a career in teaching, initially at East Ham Boys’ Grammar and subsequently at Langdon School when Newham went comprehensive. Since retiring I have been involved in writing text books for secondary schools and have a senior role in examining at GCSE level.

You will all have seen me around as I am one of the few cyclists in the area and my blue jacket and flat hat are quite distinctive. It is therefore no surprise that cycling and protection of the environment are high on my list of interests. I am also passionate about making a positive contribution to the community. Being chair of governors at Redbridge is one outlet for my voluntary activities. Others are as treasurer at Roding Lane Free Church and work party leader for the Youth Hostels Association".
