December 2016

The Week before Christmas!

This week we are celebrating Christmas Around the World with a look at how people of different cultures and nationalities celebrate Christmas. We have shared our ideas in assembly with the other children. We also performed Christmas songs for parents in a separate assembly. There are lots more events taking place before the end of the week!

Christmas Recorder Performances

Our Christmas Recorder Performances are underway! Year 3 and 4 had a great turnout of parents and the children enjoyed playing a range of pieces, whilst showing off their recorder and singing skills. Thank you to Mrs Marriott and Mrs Kaur for their expertise and skills!

Kestrels Class Assembly

Kestrels Class Assembly took place on the 7th of December and was a huge success! The children based their assembly on their work in class where they have been learning about World War II. It featured history, music, philosophy, English, art and many other subjects. At the end, Kestrels asked whether the leaders of today are learning from the past. It's a question we should all consider! Well done Kestrels

Year 2 Winter Scenes

We have begun our Winter activities in year 2 with some fabulous homework projects! The children have created some Winter scenes featuring the robin from Michael Morpurgo's book 'ComingHome'. The children did a wonderful job and are very proud of their work!

Ballet 1

Ballet Performance

Well done to all of our dancers who performed in the ballet performances. It was wonderful to see such concentration and skill from everyone. Special thanks to Miss Sarah and we wish her all the best with her wedding tomorrow.

Seven Kings Student Alliance

As part of the Pupil Alliance project, we have been focusing on feedback. Our first session at Seven Kings High School was looking at what feedback is. Session two involved learning about negative and positive feedback.

The third session at Oaks Park High School focused on collecting feedback from our peers by completing a  survey. We fed this back to KS2 pupils during assembly on Monday.

Year 3 Mince Pie Making Workshop

Y3 had a great time making mince pies in their workshop. Having looked at how to make them, they used fruits for the filling and decorated them with icing sugar. They were scrumptious!
“It was really fun to mix the ingredients, especially when some when on my face.” - Muntaha, Jackdaws Class
