Spring Term Dress up Days

We are aware that there have been a number of dress-up days this term. Please note that these are not obligatory, nor will any money be collected for any of the remaining days in Spring. Children will not be expected to wear ‘costumes’ for the below dates.

10th March: French Day
Children are free to wear something red, white or blue. Our school uniform will suffice if necessary!

21st March: Parade Day
Children to wear a colour representative of their class’ chosen country.

We are reviewing our dress up day procedures and will give advance notice of Summer’s events before the Easter holiday. Dress-up days for 2017/18 will be diarised and made available to parents before the Summer holidays. Thanks to our parents for their support and feedback.

Year 2 Great Fire of London Visit

Picture1(7)

Y2 enjoyed a trip to London where we became history detectives and walked the streets affected by the Great Fire of 1666. We  visited Pudding Lane, All Hallows Church and St. Olave’s and even followed the footsteps of Samuel Pepys! We loved dressing up as Pepys and his wife Elizabeth as well as having a go writing our names with a quill and ink. Thanks to all the parents who came on the trip.

Feedback from Our Group Leader

I just want to tell you how wonderful the children of Swallows class were on their Great Fire of London Day. If you remember, Thursday was a very stormy day, but we so fortunate with the good weather on Friday and the children with their enthusiasm added even more sunshine to the day. Their impeccable behaviour, yet with an eagerness to learn, and good humour, made it such an enjoyable experience for us all.  A huge thank you to Ms Francis and Mrs Patel for all their support. We had a very helpful group of parents too, for which I'm grateful.

As always it's a pleasure for Philippa and I to be involved with Redbridge School.

Best wishes,

Margaret

Year 1 Italy Project Assembly

Our Year 1 children did a fantastic job of showcasing their Italy topic for parents and staff during a special assembly this month. It included storytelling, acting, singing, key facts and even some catwalk modelling! It was wonderful to see so many parents come along to support their children. Thank you to the dedicated Year 1 staff for preparing the children so well!

Winter Arts Festival 2017

We had a wonderful time preparing for and attending the Winter Arts Festival at Cranbrook Primary School on 3rd February. The children took part in the choir, art and dance competitions. It was a fantastic afternoon where our talents shone. We were so pleased to win a Silver Trophy in the choir competition. Thanks to Mrs Cordes, Miss Knowles, Mr Khan and Mr Bergmann for preparing the children so well. Look our for a separate blogpost on this event from the children very soon!
