Woodpeckers Class Assembly

Woodpeckers did a fantastic job this week, performing three separate stories about Theseus and the Minotaur, Roman Invasion and and an ancient New Zealand story about nature. The children wrote the playscripts themselves and performed them beautifully. Thank you to Miss Knowles for preparing the class so well.

European Aquatics Championships

We had a wonderful time at the Olympic Aquatic Centre last week, watching the synchronised swimming and diving sections of the European Aquatics Championships. Thank you to Miss Cornwall for organising the day.

Arts and Rights Respect Week

It has been an amazing Art and Rights Respect Week! We have focused on raising children’s awareness in being global and local citizens. Lots of children illustrated their rights in images, drama, songs, debates, short films, poems, rap and much more. Thank you to Mrs Azigbo for her help and support.

Trophy Winner!

“It was on Saturday 14th May when I received three awards of excellency. These awards were to celebrate my achievements at the National Children’s Competition. In order for me to achieve these awards I had to show dedication. My parents played a big role in directing me so I thank them deeply. There were many tasks which I had to accomplish, such as speech recital, recitation of the Quran and Arabic Calligraphy. As soon as I received these awards I was ecstatic. This was a really good opportunity to show what I am capable of.

Year 1 Visit the Golden Hinde

For Pirate Day the children role played pirate scenes and used their treasure map to search for hidden treasure on the field. They also visited the Golden Hinde ship in London Bridge.

On Your Feet!

Well done to Mrs Sandhu who completed the Run Hackney 5km in the blazing heat last weekend and Mr Henry who completed the Belfast Marathon earlier this month . They both trained hard, persevered on the day and their efforts paid off. Other RPS staff have running events coming up this term - more to follow!

Staff Development

Well done to Mrs Kataria and Ms Sahote who completed a two day First Aid Training Course this week.

Swimming Pool

Our school swimming pool is now in use for the Summer Term. Year 4 have been enjoying their sessions this week and we also have weekly visits from children who attend Hatton School.

Dress Up Days

We are aware that there have been quite a number of dress up days in recent months and we will be looking to streamline these going forward. Please do not feel as though new, expensive costumes must be purchased for these occasions.  Instead, please use what clothes you’ve got at home and reuse where possible. Many thanks for your continued support

Y5 Drama Workshops

Year 5 have been taking part in a series of drama workshops with Phil and Garry  this term. Each class has taken part in three afternoon sessions and the results have been magical!

Congratulations!

Congratulations to Mrs Chana, who has given birth to a baby boy. Both mum and baby are doing very well and Herons class are overjoyed with the news!

KS2 SATs

Well done to our Year 6 children who worked so hard to prepare for and sit their SATs this week. We at Redbridge Primary are aware of the unnecessary pressure which media coverage has added to our children and families this week and have done our best to provide a nurturing and supportive environment for the children.

Building Update May 6th

Work continues at pace on our new classrooms in preparation for the next academic year. Our children are very excited to see developments from the school playground. Classrooms are now ready for plastering, drainage is being tested and windows have all been installed. Our School Council are looking forward to visiting the site later this month and will report back to parents in the newsletter.

Swans Class Assembly

Swans class put a lot of hard work and energy into their class assembly. It was a lovely opportunity to see all members of the class step out of their comfort zones and show the rest of key stage 2, what we have been learning about in an enjoyable way. We had a lot of laughter during our rehearsals. Thank you very much to the parents for always being so eager in supporting your children with the props and costumes and to Miss Fardus for her hard work.

Football News

Well done to our Football Team who drew 1-1 with Fullwood Primary School this month. Congrats to Balyele for scoring a great goal!

Gardening News

“Today we spent the afternoon with Chris Collins from ISS and some other schools in the quad. It was a gardening session and we planted some vegetables such as tomato, sweet pepper, cucumber and aubergine. We made plants with beans. You need to use a special spray on these plants every four weeks. This was very fun for us!”
