France 2018
On Tuesday 26th June 53 year 6 children and 6 members of staff headed off to France. Have a read of the daily events and see how they are getting on.
Day 1 - The children arrived in France just before 3pm local time. They visited the snail farm and enjoyed a range of breads and snail pate. In the evening they settled into their rooms at the hotel.
Day 2 - After a hearty breakfast, they set off to the bunkers at La Coupole as part of their WW2 history topic. In the afternoon they enjoyed the theme park except for Mr Cordes who chose not to go on any of the rides. Ice creams were enjoyed by all. The evening was spent on the beach as you can see in the photographs below.
Day 3 - A long day travelling to Belgium. The children visited the Passchendaele War Memorial Museum, Flanders Field, experience the Last Post at the Menin Gate, lay a wreath on behalf of the school for the soldiers who were in the war and dined at a Belgium restaurant. It was a day of reflection and appreciation of the people who fought in the war.
Day 4 - final day in France and to end their visit the children visited the chocolate factory. Let’s hope
chocolates have not melted in this heat. The children have cleared passport control and are on schedule for their crossing. Estimated time of arrival is 4.30pm. If there are any changes we will let you know.
